Petite and sweet, these Borettane varietal onions from the Po River Valley in Italy will have you munching with delight. We love these balsamic-marinated sweet and tart onions skewered with veggies and grilled or chopped into a bubbly mac and cheese. This product, made in Italy, is Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Non-GMO, Vegan, and Vegetarian. Our Cipolline Balsamic Onions are the Borretane varietal and are grown in the Po River Valley of Northern Italy. Reminiscent of pearl onions, cipollini are saucer-shaped and a staple of Italian cooking. Traditionally these onions are made two ways: agrodolce (sweet and sour) and marinated in balsamic vinegar. The balsamic vinegar provides a wonderfully sweet and tart contrast to the savoriness of the onion.
